# Bluetooth controllers

In PS1 mode the device can act as a wireless receiver: pair a Bluetooth controller and it appears to the console as a PS1 controller on the same port.

{% hint style="warning" %}
The receiver uses the controller port that shares the slot with the memory card. Do not plug a real controller into that port while the receiver is active.
{% endhint %}

## Pairing

1. Make sure the device is in PS1 mode.
2. Select **Menu > Bluetooth > Pair Controller**. The Wi-Fi icon changes to a blinking Bluetooth icon.
3. Put the controller into pairing mode within one minute.
4. The display shows **BLE Connected**.

Paired controllers reconnect automatically. With **Settings > Bluetooth** enabled, the device starts looking for the last controller at boot when Wi-Fi is off.

## Unpairing

Select **Menu > Bluetooth > Unpair All Devices**. The display confirms **Paired BT devices have been cleared.**

## Notes

* Bluetooth and Wi-Fi share the radio. Pairing works best with Wi-Fi off.
* Switching to PS2 mode disconnects the controller.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://8bitmods.gitbook.io/manuals/gamepad-receiver-ps1/bluetooth.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
