# Multi-disc games and names

## Multi-disc games

Games shipped on several discs have a different ID per disc. The built-in database maps every disc of a set to the first disc's ID, so all discs share one card. The card folder is named after disc 1.

## The name database

The firmware contains a title database for PS1 and PS2. When a game folder is first seen, the title is looked up and written to `name.txt` in the folder. That file is what the display and the WebUI show.

* To change a name, edit `name.txt` or use **Edit Name** in the WebUI.
* To restore the database name, use **Fetch Name from DB** in the WebUI.
* Folders not in the database show their folder name.

## Play statistics

The device records recently played games and play counts in `recent.txt` and `topgames.txt` in the root of the storage. The WebUI shows them on its home page. Delete the files to reset the statistics.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://8bitmods.gitbook.io/manuals/gameid/multi-disc-and-names.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
