# USB controllers and adapters

In USB mode the USB-C port takes one of these at a time:

* A wired controller, such as an Xbox or PlayStation controller
* A controller receiver, such as the 8BitDo 2.4G receiver or the 8BitDo USB Wireless Adapter 2
* A USB Bluetooth adapter, for Bluetooth Classic controllers and mice
* A wired keyboard
* The BitLink DC Adapter, by cable. See [Using the BitLink DC Adapter](/manuals/bitlink-dc-dongle/features/adapter.md).

## Wired controllers and receivers

1. Set the dongle to USB mode. The LED is white.
2. Plug the controller or receiver into the USB-C port. The LED turns steady white when it connects.

Pair a controller with its own receiver as its maker describes before you plug the receiver in.

{% hint style="warning" %}
The dongle can only supply limited power. Use a powered USB hub for controllers with a rechargeable battery.
{% endhint %}

## Through a USB Bluetooth adapter

1. Set the dongle to USB mode and plug in a TP-Link UB5A or UB600 adapter.
2. Put the controller into pairing mode. The dongle searches all the time and connects to it.

Paired controllers reconnect on their own when you switch them on.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://8bitmods.gitbook.io/manuals/bitlink-dc-dongle/inputs/usb.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
