# Keyboards and mice

When a keyboard or mouse connects, the dongle appears to the Dreamcast as a Dreamcast keyboard or mouse instead of a controller.

* Bluetooth LE keyboards and mice pair in Bluetooth mode, like a controller. See [Bluetooth controllers](/manuals/bitlink-dc-dongle/inputs/bluetooth.md).
* Bluetooth Classic mice pair through a USB Bluetooth adapter in USB mode. See [USB controllers and adapters](/manuals/bitlink-dc-dongle/inputs/usb.md).
* Wired keyboards plug into the USB-C port in USB mode.

## Notes

* A Dreamcast keyboard or mouse has no memory card slot, so the virtual memory cards are not available while one is connected. Save to a memory card in another controller instead.
* Some games only look for a keyboard or mouse in port A, for example Railroad Tycoon II. Check the supported peripherals on the game's box.
* With a DualSense, tap **Create** to use its touchpad as a mouse. The light bar turns green while mouse mode is on. See [Combo presses](/manuals/bitlink-dc-dongle/webui/combo-presses.md).

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://8bitmods.gitbook.io/manuals/bitlink-dc-dongle/inputs/keyboards-and-mice.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
