# Bluetooth controllers

In Bluetooth mode the dongle connects Bluetooth LE (Low Energy) controllers, keyboards and mice. Xbox Wireless Controllers and most Xbox-compatible controllers use Bluetooth LE.

{% hint style="info" %}
Sony and Nintendo controllers and most 8BitDo controllers use Bluetooth Classic, which the dongle does not have built in. Connect them with a USB Bluetooth adapter or a USB cable instead. See [USB controllers and adapters](/manuals/bitlink-dc-dongle/inputs/usb.md).
{% endhint %}

## Pairing

1. Set the dongle to Bluetooth mode. The LED is blue.
2. Press the button once. The LED pulses blue quickly.
3. Put the controller into pairing mode. On an Xbox controller, hold the pair button until the Xbox button flashes quickly.
4. The LED turns steady blue when the controller connects.

## Reconnecting

Paired controllers reconnect on their own when you switch them on. You do not need to press the button again.

## Notes

* Rumble works on Xbox-compatible controllers. See [Rumble](/manuals/bitlink-dc-dongle/features/rumble.md).
* The full list is in [Supported controllers](/manuals/bitlink-dc-dongle/inputs/supported-controllers.md).

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://8bitmods.gitbook.io/manuals/bitlink-dc-dongle/inputs/bluetooth.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
